Role in CARE Study


Cindy Curiel is a Clinical Research Coordinator working on several studies including REACH, COVID-19 RESOURCE, CARE, COMET, and RISE. She is actively involved with the CLEAR Lab’s Youth-led Participatory Action Research (YPAR) program and supports our community partners at the Lifelong William Jenkins Health Center by leading the weekly Veggie Giveaway and other community projects. Cindy joined the CLEAR lab team in 2020, with over 6 years of career experience in the mental health field as a classroom counselor, crisis assessment center counselor, and crisis residential counselor. She graduated from the University of California, Davis in 2014 with a Bachelor’s degree with a double major in Psychology and Chicana/o studies and is interested in research exploring the relationship between environment, mental health, and chronic diseases in underserved communities. Outside of work, Cindy is the Chief Development Officer on the executive board of MiMentor, a national non-profit organization that creates mentorship opportunities for underrepresented pre-health students. Additionally, Cindy enjoys spending time with her pup Peluche, watching international dramas and anime, karaoke, and learning new languages.  

 

Why I'm Excited About CARE


CARE is an exciting study because it will help us better understand the effects of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and the interventions that can be implemented in community clinics to strengthen caregivers relationships with their children.
