Role in CARE Study

As a graduate student researcher for the CARE Study, I am currently working with the Santa Barbara Neighborhood Clinics on one of the interventions being studied. The intervention is a trauma-informed, strength-based programming for underserved families focused on mindfulness, psychoeducation on the effect of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), restorative communication, stress reduction, and improving family relationships. We are looking to assess biological, behavioral, and psychosocial outcomes for caregivers and children. I have also worked on conducting bilingual interviews to validate an updated version of the PEARLS screener tool.

Why I’m Excited About CARE

I am proud of the work that we are doing to offer services and support to underserved families. It is one step toward creating more accessibility and equity in our society. I am a big proponent of mindfulness and psychoeducation, so I truly believe that sharing these resources can have a significant impact on people’s lives, their families, and their community at large.
