Role in CARE Study

I direct the Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up (ABC) Program, which is one of the three interventions that our team is delivering as part of the larger CARE Study. Caregivers and children who participate in the ABC Program meet one-on-one with a highly trained “parent coach” once a week for 10 weeks for interactive playtime and discussions about parenting. The program supports strong caregiver-child relationships and helps caregivers learn how to manage challenging behaviors that are common during toddlerhood.

Why I’m Excited About CARE

Many families experience stressful events when children are young and they deserve support. The CARE Study will help us understand what families need when they are going through difficult times, and how programs can improve children’s well-being. I am enthusiastic about the CARE Study because we have the opportunity to support families now and in the future, as we learn what helps children and their caregivers develop resilience during tough times.
